Aerial Application on Citrus Canker

Fungicide

Copperstar (Copper Oxychloride 84% WG) shows safe, efficient, and excellent control effects with aerial application on citrus canker, and has been unanimously approved by Guangxi Citrus Planting Industry Association.

To promote the technological progress of Guangxi's citrus industry, the Guangxi Citrus Planting Industry Association (hereinafter referred to as “Guangxi Citrus Association”) specially solicited new agricultural techniques and product solutions for citrus planting from all member units. Sunjoy Agro recommended Copperstar (Copper Oxychloride 84% WG) based on local citrus planting characteristics. In addition, Sunjoy Agro put time and energy into improving application plans with local technicians and following up on the development of Citrus Demonstration Farm throughout the year.

At the end of 2020, the Guangxi Citrus Association experts inspected citrus trees of different varieties and ages in the Copperstar treatment group at the Citrus Demonstration Farm. The excellent control effect surprised everyone at the scene. At that time, inorganic copper fungicides were considered unsafe and inefficient in preventing citrus canker. Farmers would be concerned about phytotoxicity after application. However, our Copperstar-treated citrus had shiny fruits and showed no cankers on the leaves. The safety and efficacy of our product have been recognized by experts from the Association. Therefore, the Association officially signed and certified the “Copperstar Citrus Canker Prevention and Treatment Report” with scheme number 001, which means that the control effect of Copperstar can be fully promoted to the market.

Spray Copperstar to Treat Citrus Canker

With the rapid development of technology, mechanization of farm management has become a general trend. In Guangxi, spraying copper fungicides with agricultural drones is a new application method for citrus growers. However, the crop safety, mixing properties, control efficacy, and impact on non-target pests and diseases were still unknown. It is important to conduct more field experiments with drones to study the control effect of different pesticide combinations and dosages on citrus canker.

In 2022, Sunjoy Agro began to study drone spraying of pesticides and cooperated with a team from Guangxi University led by Professor Yongqiang He. We verified the control effect of the Copperstar on citrus canker through indoor bioassays and field efficacy trials, obtained the recommended dosage by analyzing different concentration gradients, and prepared precautions through trial results of mixed pesticides by drones. Compared with other products, Copperstar saves time and labor costs because of its safety, outstanding efficacy, and good mixability.

Standard Field Trials of Copperstar with Aerial Application

In the same year, Sunjoy Agro invited Liming Xu, president of Guangxi Citrus Association, and Gobi Zhang, associate researcher of Guangxi Citrus Research Institute, to evaluate the standard trial orchard and demonstration orchard. No canker fruit was found in the trial areas using Copperstar. The excellent control effect was recognized by the experts of the Guangxi Citrus Association.

In 2023, Sunjoy Agro continued its efforts to build the Citrus Demonstration Farm. In July, Sunjoy Agro invited growers troubled by citrus canker from all over the country to attend the acceptance meeting of aerial application on citrus canker to witness the excellent results of Copperstar.

Results of Copperstar Aerial Application on Citrus Canker in 2023

On August 20, 2023, under the witness of more than 150 industry peers and the media, Guangxi Citrus Association unanimously approved the Copperstar aerial application on citrus canker. The two-year trials have fully proved the rigor and prudence of the Association for new technologies and new solutions. It also affirms the safety and excellent control effect of Copperstar aerial application to prevent and control citrus canker.
