COMPANY HISTORY FROM 1987 TO PRESENT DAY

1987-2001

The pioneer years

In the late 80s, Sinochem Ningbo decided to expand its export business. The company already sold inorganic chemicals in Asia but decided to try selling agrochemicals as well. The demand was so great that it shifted to agrochemicals as the main product. When it first started, the company supported clients with registrations in several countries such as Spain, Italy, Greece, and Thailand. In 2001, the company established an overseas registration team to submit hundreds of product registrations for global clients every year and has become one of the first Chinese companies to develop the agrochemical market in Latin America. In just a few years, its export volume grew from less than $1 million to more than $10 million.

Acquisition and expansion

In 2001, Sinochem Ningbo acquired Ningbo Pesticides Factory, a designated pesticide synthesis enterprise founded in 1958 by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. We have invested more than $100 million to develop the factory into a modern production base, covering an area of 10 hectares and employing nearly 300 employees. Engaged in research and production of technical and formulated products, our factory manufactures various high-efficacy, low-toxicity, and eco-friendly agrochemicals. Equipped with the complete formulation instruments and technology, we can make over 500 formulated products in accordance with national standards or FAO specifications.

2003-2010

Innovation and research

In 2003, Sinochem Ningbo established Gaoke Research Institute, engaged in the innovation of formulation products, development of technical products, and improvement of the formulation process. The company was certified as a High-Tech Enterprise in Zhejiang the same year. Our products are respected among plant protection professionals for their high quality and good performance. For example, our Fenitrothion and Malathion were identified as Famous Brands in Ningbo City. In 2007, our pesticide export volume exceeded $50 million.

Optimizing corporate governance

The company has experienced several structural reforms since 2010. Sinochem Ningbo was reformed as Ninhua Group, with core operation divisions of Pharmaceutical, Agrochemical, and HVAC that later transformed into subsidiary companies. The Agrochemical business consolidated into Ningbo Sunjoy Agroscience holding five management headquarters and three subsidiary companies, integrates trade, manufacture, and research into one company umbrella, thus forming a robust business ecosystem. Sunjoy Agro has established Bioassay Center and multiple laboratories successively, injecting new vitality into the leap-forward development. The company has over 100 researchers, with an annual research funding of $5 million, seeking innovative solutions to problems on the key crops and introducing a new generation of crop protection products to the market.

2015-2023

Creating values for local farmers

Sunjoy Agro established a subsidiary company to develop the Chinese agrochemical market in 2015. After several years of hard work, Sunjoy Agro has launched a series of agrochemical products in the domestic market, covering common diseases, insect pests, weeds, and pest birds of the major crops. Through our continuous research and process improvement, our products have reached an advanced level in the market and won the trust of customers. In 2018, our 10% Lufenuron SC and 84% Copper Oxychloride WG were granted the Agrochemical Contribution Award by the China Society of Plant Protection. In 2019, our 86% Bordeaux Mixture WG was given the Agrochemical Contribution Award by China Chemical Industry News. In 2020, 10% Lufenuron SC was presented as the Quality Citrus Protection Product by ChinaCrop Protection Industry Association. In 2022, Sunjoy Agro was certified as a High-Tech Enterprise in China.
