Pest Control in Brown Planthopper
Insecticide
Rice is a staple food for more than half of the world’s population. Paddy field is prone to the ongoing threat posed by insects, diseases, weeds, and rats. Densely planted crops and excessive use of nitrogen fertilizer all favor brown planthoopers’ development. The brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens) or BPH is a piercing-sucking pest that causes significant damage to rice production under heavy infestations. Both adults and nymphs have piercing mouthparts to suck the sap out of plant leaves and sheaths. The damages include yellowing and spotted leaves, loss of plant vitality and vigor, and eventually burning symptoms known as hopper burn occur.
How to control?
Seedsong (Thiamethoxam 350g/L FS) is a reliable seed treatment option that gives full protection from seeds to seedlings and prevents sucking insects at an early stage. Thiamethoxam is a neonicotinoid insecticide that gives long-lasting control against a broad spectrum of sucking and chewing pest insects, including wireworms, aphids, and thrips, using foliar spray, soil or seed treatment. The systemic effect enables the active ingredient to be distributed via the roots into the whole plant. It interferes with the specific receptors in the insect’s nervous system. Within hours of contact or ingestion, insects stop feeding and die. Furthermore, thiamethoxam has a unique “vigor effect” on germination boost and crop establishment that promotes greater production and higher yields.
You can drench the seedbed with diluted Seedsong once you notice BPH existence. However, if there is a tendency for BPH outbreaks, you should use the right insecticide to target and kill.
Defuser (Nitenpyram 20% + Pymetrozine 60% DF) is a great insecticide choice against BPHs. The formulation has excellent systemic properties, which can be used in foliar spray and soil drench to control pests in hidden places. It provides an immediate killing effect and long-term control over piercing-sucking insects with dual-power actions. Nitenpyram inhibits the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. It disrupts the nervous system and paralyzes pests to death. Pymetrozine selectively affects the neuro regulation or nerve-muscle interaction. It stops feeding immediately, preventing the insects from piercing the plant epidermis. The average particle size of Defuser is less than 2 um after dilution, which contributes to the excellent properties in dispersibility, extensibility, adhesivity, and penetrability, providing faster action and longer duration than other insecticides. Moreover, the product has low toxicity to mammals, birds and aquatic organisms and is relatively safer compare to normal insecticides.
