Control Powdery Mildew by GREYHUNTER
Fungicide
The main symptom of powdery mildew is a white or grayish powdery covering that forms on the surface of plant leaves, making it relatively easy to identify among plant diseases. The fungal pathogens thrive in conditions of high humidity, dry leaf surfaces, and suitable temperatures. The symptoms may appear on any aboveground part of the plant but are usually more noticeable in lower areas. As the disease progresses, the initial powdery spots gradually enlarge and become denser, producing a large number of asexual spores, thus spreading the symptoms to other parts of the plant.
Powdery mildew not only affects the appearance of plants but also harms their growth and development. Infected plants typically exhibit slowed growth rates, resulting in reduced yields. Additionally, because the leaves become fragile, plants are more susceptible to damage from other pathogens and external environmental factors, compromising their overall health. Therefore, it is crucial to take preventive measures and identify the disease early to avoid significant crop losses.
Fungicides can manage the early development of powdery mildew through rotation to enhance effectiveness and prevent resistance. In practice, Sunjoy Agro recommends the use of GREYHUNTER (Pyraclostrobin 15%+ Boscalid 30% SC) for foliar spraying. GREYHUNTER contains two active ingredients with different mechanisms of action, providing excellent protection and treatment against fungal diseases like powdery mildew and gray mold. In addition, the fungicide can improve the quality of vegetables, reduce rot during storage, and extend shelf life.
In May 2023, Researchers conducted extensive trials to control powdery mildew on bitter gourd in different areas of Guangdong Province. Powdery mildew is a common disease of bitter gourd, which mainly damages the leaves. It can occur during the entire growth period, mostly in the fruiting and ripening stages. Almost all bitter gourd in the field will be infected with powdery mildew. In severe cases, it can cause plants to age, senesce, and eventually die. This will lead to decline in the quality of bitter gourd, reduction in yield, or even failure to harvest.
The researchers sprayed GREYHUNTER with 1000 times dilution and Sulfur 80% WG with 500 times dilution onto the plant leaves. The powdery covering faded away after 24 hours. 7 days after application, there was no recurrence of powdery mildew on the diseased leaves, and the newly emerged leaves were clean.
