Control Potato Late Blight by ROWSONG
Fungicide
Potato is an annual plant belonging to the nightshade family (Solanaceae). It is native to the Peruvian-Bolivian Andes and was cultivated by the Incas as early as 1,800 years ago. According to the 2020 FAO statistics, the top 5 potato-producing countries are China, India, Ukraine, Russia, and the USA. In Central America, potatoes play a vital role in agriculture and diets, contributing to both local consumption and commercial production. There are five key growth stages from planting to harvest: germination, vegetative stage, tuber initiation, tuber development, and maturation.
Late blight, caused by the water mold Phytophthora infestans, is a serious disease affecting potato and tomato plants. Potatoes are more susceptible to late blight due to bad climate conditions from the vegetative stage to the tuber development stage. The disease adversely impacts potato stems, leaves, tubers, and flowers. When plants become infected, the water-stained leaf spots are rushed out, rings of white mold are formed on both sides of the leaves, and the stems and tubers are slightly pitted with brown stripes.
The disease could cause significant losses to farmers. The infected plants die prematurely and can cause a 20-40% reduction in yield. The Irish Potato Famine caused by late blight in the mid-19th century, led to a more cautious attitude regarding reliance on this plant.
Mandipropamid, Chlorothalonil, Fluazinam, and Mancozeb are some commonly used fungicides to control the spread of potato late blight, but frequent use of a single active ingredient or fungicides with the same mode of action could lead to the development of resistance easily.
For the control of potato late blight, Sunjoy Agro recommends using Rowsong (Cymoxanil 56% + Cyazofamid 14% DF) at a diluted rate of 1500 - 3000 times. Rowsong offers many benefits for both crops and customers:
1. High content of the active ingredient;
2. Combine two active ingredients in the perfect ratio for maximum synergy effect (Cyazofamid:Cymoxanil=1:4);
3. Offer excellent preventative and curative activities. The formulation has both quick-acting and long-lasting effects, inhibiting all stages of oomycete fungus development;
4. Innovative low-temperature dry flowable technology. The particles disintegrate quickly in water, providing wider and more uniform coverage after spraying, resulting in high control efficacy.
In 2021, Sunjoy Agro conducted field trials in China to test the control efficacy of Rowsong on potato late blight. 7 days after the second application, the control efficacy still exceeded 90%, showing a longer duration compared to common fungicides.
