Control Peach Aphids by APHISTAR
Insecticide
Peach (Prunus persica) is one of China’s most important fruit crops, characterized by a large planting area and high economic value. However, during the growing season, peach trees face severe aphid infestations. Aphids insert their stylets into tender buds, young leaves, and flower buds to suck sap. This feeding behavior induces leaf curling, wrinkling, yellowing, and premature defoliation, ultimately weakening tree vigor and reducing yield. Additionally, aphids excrete large amounts of honeydew, which promotes the development of sooty mold. This black fungal growth interferes with photosynthesis and significantly affects fruit appearance and market value. Therefore, effective and scientifically based aphid management is essential for maintaining healthy tree growth and ensuring high-quality fruit production.
Aphistar® (13% Flonicamid + 10.4% Acetamiprid OD) is a specially formulated insecticide developed to control piercing-sucking pests. It provides both rapid knockdown and extended residual activity, making it especially effective for environmentally friendly and efficient aphid control in peach orchards.
In April 2025, a field trial in Zhongmu County, Henan Province, evaluated Aphistar®’s efficacy against peach aphids. The results were as follows:
- Aphid feeding ceased within 2 hours of application, and activity significantly declined shortly thereafter;
- High mortality was observed within 72 hours, demonstrating excellent efficacy;
- Aphid control remained above 90% for up to 8 days, with pest populations drastically reduced;
- Damaged leaves were significantly decreased, while new growth was vigorous, uniformly green, and healthy.
In contrast, conventional control practices used by local growers showed much poorer results:
- Aphid activity remained high with minimal reduction in population even after 72 hours;
- After 8 days, control efficacy was below 50%, with ongoing infestation on new shoots;
- Leaf curling and deformation persisted, new shoot development was stunted, and overall tree vigor declined.
In summary, Aphistar® delivers faster knockdown, longer-lasting efficacy, and superior plant protection compared to traditional treatment approaches, making it an ideal solution for integrated aphid management in peach orchards.
