Control Rose Thrips by PRIXYFEN

Insecticide

Roses are often considered the quintessential symbol of beauty and romance. Imagine your prized rose garden suddenly under attack – leaves turning bronze, petals marred by silvery streaks, and flowers losing their luster. These are telltale signs of a rose thrips invasion. Thrips, specifically the western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis), pose a serious threat to aesthetics and health of roses. They're tiny but mighty pests capable of causing massive damage, affecting both appearance and potentially violating plant health regulations.

To combat this pest, PRIXYFEN 310 SE ® (Acetamiprid 186g/L + Pyriproxyfen 124g/L SE) come to the rescue. Acetamiprid, a neonicotinoid insecticide, acts quickly by disrupting the nervous systems of thrips upon contact and ingestion. Its rapid action is crucial in preventing further damage and reducing the spread of viral diseases. Pyriproxyfen is a juvenile hormone analog that disrupts the molting and reproductive processes of insects, preventing them from reaching maturity and reproducing. Together, they offer a one-two punch against thrips, providing both quick results and lasting protection.

Sunjoy Agro recommends diluting the product 1000-1500 times for foliar spraying. The timing of application is rather critical for optimal effectiveness. Preemptive usage extends the period of effectiveness when thrips are scarce. In cases of severe damage, increase the dosage to manage and control pest numbers effectively. Diluted 1,000 times, the results shown in the figure are evident 2 days after application.

Here’s what you need to know to use this product safely and efficiently:

1. Timing Is Key: Spray the product during early morning or late afternoon to reduce evaporation rates and increase thrips contact by avoiding peak sun intensity.

2. Complete Coverage: Ensure thorough and even application to all leaf surfaces, petals, and stems to effectively target hiden thrips.

3. Repeat Applications: Depending on thrips pressure, reapply the product every two weeks throughout the growing season to maintain control.

4. Rotate Pesticides: Avoid continuous use of the same chemicals and consider pesticide rotation to prevent resistance buildup among thrips populations.
