The Importance of DF Formulation in Pesticide Efficacy

It is widely recognized that the formulation and type of formulations directly affect the efficacy of products. Among various formulations, Dry Flowable (DF), a type of Water Dispersible Granule (WDG), stands out as the most advanced. The DF formulation consists of solid particles produced by the following process: first, the technical materials undergo wet sand grinding to create a water suspension, followed by direct water removal through relatively high-temperature spraying, resulting in dry solid particles.

Sunjoy Agro, a technology-driven company, began researching DF formulations as early as 2012. Today, we have successfully developed and launched several DF products, including Copper Oxychloride 84% DF and Copper Hydroxide 77% DF. These products play a crucial role in combating challenging bacterial diseases in China’s agricultural production, such as citrus bacterial canker and cucumber angular leaf spot. Innovation in DF Technology: Overcoming High-Temperature Limitations

During our continued research, Sunjoy Agro identified a critical challenge: many technical materials are unsuitable for high-tower granulation due to heat sensitivity. High temperature in the tower can melt low-melting-point active ingredients and degrade heat-sensitive compounds. In addition, common additives like sodium lingosulfonate with poor heat resistance may break down and compromise the product’s dispersion system. As a result, conventional high-temperature DF process may result in insufficient active ingredients, agglomerated particles, low suspension rates, and reduced efficacy.

To address these limitations, Sunjoy Agro adheres to the concept of "Innovation Drives Development", and pioneered Low-Temperature Dry Flowable Technology. On September 30th, 2022, we completed a 100-million-RMB investment to establish China’s first low-temperature DF production workshop in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, a significant achievement in China's pesticide formulation development.

Our low-temperature DF production process adopts a two-step dehydration polymerization granulation technology, maintaining the drying temperature below 50°C. This preserves the integrity of heat-sensitive raw materials from high temperatures, leading to better biological performance compared to high-temperature DF technology processed products.

Rowsong® DF: A Breakthrough in Downy Mildew Control

Downy mildew is a pervasive threat in agriculture, known for its wide host range, rapid transmission, and high resistance to fungicides. Since 2017, Sunjoy Agro has dedicated research to combating this disease using low-temperature DF technology. This result is Rowsong^® (56% Cymoxanil +14% Cyazofamid DF), features outstanding biological performance, long-lasting protection, and low resistance risk.
